The Vietnamese under-17s have qualified for the 2006 Asian finals after beating Malaysia 2-0 on aggregate. The home side beat their visiting Malaysians 1-0 in Nam Dinh on November 17.

With 1-0 victory in Kuala Lumpur last week, the hosts had a good morale when replaying their opponents. The Vietnamese players with excellent skills controlled the game. Their well-placed defence successfully prevented long ball attacks of the Malaysians.

In the 18th minute, Danh Ngoc opened the scoring, which helped strengthen the under-17s” hope of going through. Getting boosted with the goal, the hosts created some more opportunities but they failed to net in the 60th and 72nd minutes.

Malaysia had a good opportunity in the final minute but the ball hit the crossbar.
