AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022: Losing, but Vietnam Women team is still worthy of praise
Despite losing 0-3 to a strong Korean opponent, in the opening match of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup – Group C, the Vietnamese women’s team still made a good impression on the fans, because of their courage and great efforts.
During the 10 days before the tournament officially started, the team did not have any tactical training sessions. Some players were barely able to rest and practice recovery, but had to play, as soon as they tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus for a few days. This greatly affected the force of Huynh Nhu and his teammates, but the spirit did not change. In fact, at the beginning of the match, the net of Vietnam team was shaken twice (4th and 7th minutes), but that is not the end, because coach Mai Duc Chung’s team have shown great resilience. This is the affirmation of the Vietnamese female players who, despite difficulties, are not discouraged, competing with all their abilities to dedicate a good match to the spectator.
In the next 45 minutes of the match, the Vietnamese women’s team continued to show a great spirit of competition. Difficulties seem to urge the players to be more aggressive and stronger. In this half, Vietnam team only conceded 1 more goal from the penalty, when the referee blew a penalty for the situation when Chuong Thi Kieu was touched by the ball because she fell after trying to stop the ball.
It is difficult to describe the efforts and resilience of the Vietnamese women’s team in the confrontation with such a strong team as Korea. What they have contributed in this match deserves praise. Hope the whole team continues to maintain the spirit of resilience, play well against the Japanese team and especially against Myanmar…
The match against the Korean women’s team is a very important step for the Vietnamese women’s team to prepare for the next two matches against the Japanese women’s team and the Myanmar women’s team. We will aim for a 3rd place with the best performance and pass the group stage.
