Head coach Mai Duc Chung: “The players have shown the courage of Vietnamese women”
Speak at the press conference after the final match of SEA Games 30, head coach Mai Duc Chung could not hide his happiness and was proud of the title that the team had just won.

“Congratulate the Vietnam Women’s team who has excellent won Thailand to defend the title at the SEA Games 30. The players were very brave and tried their best”.
About the difficulties in the beginning time at Philippines, head coach Mai Duc Chung shared: “The women’s team faced the difficulties in the beginning, however with the help of the Vietnam Sports Delegation, Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), and the leader of the team, we quickly recovered and focus on the training and competition. I was very proud of the competitive spirit of the players, they have always been strong and effort”.
“The players still need to practice more and more. I hope with the concern of the General Department of Physical Training and Sports and VFF, Vietnam Women’s football will sharply develop, get more success, and has the chance to come to the World Cup”.
“In the match today, head coach of U22 Vietnam Park Hang-seo also came to encourage for the women’s team. If we still stay in the Philippines, I and the players will come to support for U22 Vietnam in the final match. I believe that the men’s team will get success”. “Center back Chuong Thi Kieu and other players are my key players now. When Kieu was injured, I felt very sorry. The tempo of the game was very fast and the doctor did not work careful, leading to the gauze slipping out of Kieu’s leg. I was very angry with the doctor. It’s because I love my players very much and treat them as children in my family”.
“After the match, I called my home and report the match results to my wife and children. They were also watching the match on the TV. My wife was very happy for me and the team”.
“Every time come to the SEA Games with the women’s team, I have always been happy especially when the team gets a good result. If I continue to receive an offer to lead the women’s team, I will be ready and will embark on the next plan, working until I can no longer do it”.
“After SEA Games 30, Vietnam Women’s team will continue to rejuvenate, there will be more young players instead of old players. 4 or 5 young players from the U19 National Women’s team will be added to the National Women’s team to prepare for the Round 3 of Olympic 2020 and SEA Games 2021 at Vietnam”.
“In my opinion, working with the men or women team also faces high pressure. To get a good result, all need to effort”.
