The U16 Vietnam national team received a warm welcome upon their arrival in Surakarta city
After approximately 15 hours of travel from leaving the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, the U16 Vietnam national team has arrived at the Harris Hotel, their accommodation in Surakarta city, Indonesia, for their participation in the AFF U16 Championship 2024.
Due to the need for two flights, the journey to Indonesia consumed a considerable amount of time for Coach Tran Minh Chien and his team. Specifically, the U16 Vietnam national team departed from the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center at 5:30 AM on June 20th to catch their flight from Hanoi to Jakarta at 8:40 AM. After a 4-hour flight, they arrived in Indonesia’s capital and then took a domestic flight to Surakarta. According to the schedule, they were supposed to have a 3.5-hour layover at Jakarta airport and catch the connecting flight at 4:30 PM. However, due to a delay of over 1.5 hours on the flight from Jakarta to Surakarta, the team had to wait for 5 hours in total, and the flight eventually departed at 6:10 PM. After a 50-minute flight, the team finally arrived in Surakarta.
Despite the delay, Surakarta’s airport is conveniently located about 30 minutes from the Harris Hotel, where the U16 Vietnam team promptly checked in upon arrival.
Despite enduring a rather strenuous 15-hour journey, Coach Tran Minh Chien and his team seemed to have their fatigue eased somewhat by the warm reception from the local organizers. Apart from deploying a team of volunteers waving Vietnamese flags to welcome the U16 Vietnam team in the hotel lobby, the local organizers created an enthusiastic atmosphere by greeting them with lively traditional dances performed by Indonesian children. Thanks to the efficient arrangements, the check-in process was swift, allowing the team to settle in quickly. Later, they had dinner at 9:00 PM before retiring to their spacious, cool, and well-equipped rooms at the Harris Hotel, which meets international standards.
According to the schedule for tomorrow, June 21st, the U16 Vietnam team will have a training session to prepare for their first match against U16 Brunei, which will take place at 3:00 PM on June 22nd. Also on June 21st, the tournament organizers will conduct a technical meeting to discuss matters such as team jersey registrations, basic tournament information, rules, and other related issues.
