U23 Vietnam finished the AFC U23 Asian Cup at the quater-final
U23 Vietnam could not make a surprise before U23 Saudi Arabia. But with the efforts shown, the U23 players can proud of their journey in the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2022.

Entering the quarter-finals with a U23 Saudi Arabia considered as a candidate for the championship, head coach Gong Oh Kyun still surprised fans by the way in which personnel were used for U23 Vietnam. The Korean coach decided to let Tran Danh Trung and Le Minh Binh, two players who had just returned from injury, immediately started. In other positions, key players came back. Typically, in the defense, in front of Van Chuan is a quartet of defenders Tien Long, Viet Anh, Thanh Binh, Tuan Tai and three central midfielders including Van Khang, Van Truong, Duy Cuong as well as striker Manh Dung.

In a situation when U23 Vietnam’s defense was confused when Feras of U23 Saudi Arabia was lying on the field because of pain, defender Moteb got the ball. He moved very quickly into the penalty area. Although U23 Vietnam’s defenders tried to close, Moteb quickly put the ball to the far corner to beat goalkeeper Van Chuan.
In the second half, U23 Vietnam decided to increase the attacking. However, the physical strength began to decline, making the team of Coach Gong Oh Kyun not able to create many sharp attack plans. In contrast, U23 Saudi Arabia with superior class and level began to take control of the game.
In the 65th minute, the West Asian team doubled the difference. Again left-back Moted surged forward, making a cross for Feras from the inside to head comfortably close into the net and net Van Chuan. U23 Vietnam was led by 2 goals and suffered a loss of force in the 80th minute. Goalkeeper Van Chuan in an attempt to prevent striker Feras from rising, fouled the opponent. After consulting VAR for a long time, the referee gave Van Chuan a red card.
At that time, coach Gong Oh Kyun replaced all 5 players. Therefore, striker Nham Manh Dung was forced to be a reluctant goalkeeper. U23 Saudi Arabia therefore strengthens the attack. And almost in an attempt to head close to the wall, your team would have had a 3rd goal if the ball didn’t hit the crossbar.
The score 0-2 remained until the end of the match. This result means that the team of Gong Oh Kyun have to say goodbye to the 2022 AFC U23 Asian Cup.
