V.League 2 – Beer Sao Vang 2024/25: An emotional journey!
The Round 22 matches held this afternoon (June 21) officially marked the conclusion of the V.League 2 – Beer Sao Vang 2024/25. It was a season filled with thrilling and dramatic matches, right from the opening round to the very last game…
Champions of the V.League 2 – Beer Sao Vang 2024/25 — Phù Đổng Ninh Bình FC — set a tournament record with an outstanding unbeaten streak of 20 matches, earning a total of 58 points to clinch the title and secure direct promotion to the LPBank V.League 1–2025/26.
Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc FC also made history of their own by finishing as runners-up, earning a spot in the V.League 2 – Beer Sao Vang 2024/25 Play-off match for a chance to compete in the V.League 1–2025/26.
Third place went to PVF-CAND FC, who finished the season with 43 points—just one point behind runners-up Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc FC.
Hue FC closed the season on a somber note, accepting relegation to the Second Division after 12 years of competing in the National First Division.
Phù Đổng Ninh Bình FC had already secured the championship title by Round 19. However, under the guidance of head coach Viet Thang, the team still had another goal to conquer: completing an unbeaten season in V.League 2. They accomplished this by defeating hosts Dong Thap at Cao Lanh Stadium. With this victory, Phù Đổng Ninh Bình FC became the undisputed champions—going 20 matches unbeaten (19 wins, 1 draw, no losses) and earning 58 points, nearly the maximum possible.
The race for second place on the standings was fiercely contested right up to the final round between Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc FC and PVF-CAND FC. In this intense battle, TT Binh Phuoc FC edged ahead by defeating Long An FC 3-0, clinching the runner-up spot and earning a place in the Play-off match against the 13th-placed team of the LPBank V.League 1–2024/25. This decisive match is scheduled to take place on June 27 at Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City.
TT Binh Phuoc FC made history by claiming the silver medal of the tournament for the first time (having taken bronze in the 2023/2024 season). It was a challenging and courageous journey for the team, especially during periods of instability in the head coach position. Despite the difficulties, they showed resilience and determination, ultimately surpassing PVF-CAND FC—a club with strong ambitions to win the title and a track record of multiple runner-up finishes.
PVF-CAND FC had to accept a “step back” this season, falling short of the top two spots and settling for third place—despite possessing a strong and well-coordinated squad. Their dream of promotion to V.League 1 will have to wait at least one more season. Their final-round victory over Dong Nai FC was the team’s last push in an intense and thrilling race.
In the relegation battle, Hue FC were overtaken by rivals Long An, Hoa Binh, Dong Nai, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau at critical moments and in decisive matches. The team from the ancient capital bid farewell to the National First Division with regret, but with an average age of just 21, this young and promising squad gives hope for a strong comeback in future seasons.
