Vice President of the VFF, Trần Anh Tú, encouraged and motivated the Vietnam U22 national team

At noon on July 8 in Vung Tau – Ho Chi Minh City, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Trần Anh Tú, on behalf of the VFF leadership, visited and encouraged the Vietnam U22 national team, as the squad enters the final phase of preparations for the 2025 ASEAN U23 Championship.

At the meeting, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Trần Anh Tú emphasized that the VFF always pays close attention to, invests in, and creates the most favorable conditions for the Vietnam U22 national team to have the best possible preparation for the 2025 ASEAN U23 Championship. He also highlighted the team’s long-term goals, including the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games.

This direction has been implemented early on, with training camps held in parallel with the senior national team since late 2024, along with opportunities to participate in high-quality international tournaments in China. During their training camp in Ba Ria – Vung Tau, the team was also arranged two friendly matches with Chinese Taipei U23, both considered professionally valuable.

Vice President Trần Anh Tú also commended the team’s training spirit, determination, and focus as they gear up for the upcoming tournament. He noted that Vietnam has won the ASEAN U23 Championship for two consecutive editions in 2022 and 2023, but defending the title will be no easy task given the significant improvements made by other teams. He encouraged the players to give their utmost to reaffirm the team’s reigning champion status and validate Vietnam’s strategic approach to youth football development.

According to the plan, the Vietnam U22 team will continue training in Ho Chi Minh City until July 12 before departing for Indonesia on the morning of July 14. Head coach Kim Sang Sik will announce the final 23-man squad prior to departure. Assigned by the VFF Standing Committee, Vice President Trần Anh Tú will serve as the Head of Delegation for Vietnam U23 at this tournament.

The 2025 ASEAN U23 Championship will take place from July 15 to 29. Competing under the name “Vietnam U23,” the team will face Laos U23 on July 19 and Cambodia U23 on July 22 in the group stage.
