FIFA Forward 3.0: Strategic Planning

On the morning of March 28 in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Football Federation in collaboration with FIFA held a seminar “FIFA Forward 3.0” on issues related to the football development of Southeast Asian countries. One of the content presented by FIFA members to create the FIFA Forward 3.0 is Strategic Planning with the aim to develop stronger football.

Attending the workshop were the General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation Duong Nghiep Khoi, representatives of the 12 football federations of Southeast Asia and members from AFC and FIFA. On behalf of the Vietnam Football Federation, General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi had a speech to welcome the delegates to the Conference.

Opening the speech, General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi said that VFF is honored to be selected by FIFA as the venue for this conference. He also emphasized that Vietnamese football in particular and Southeast Asia in general have made strong progress in recent years thanks to strong investment in recent years. General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi assessed that FIFA’s support has contributed to promoting the development of Vietnamese football. Along with that, on the way of development, Vietnamese football always receives the attention and support from FIFA in professional activities. This has opened up many opportunities for Vietnamese football to move closer to the standards of world football, improving training and competition conditions for teams. On behalf of the VFF, once again thank FIFA and the Southeast Asian Football Federations for accompanying and developing.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Kenny Jean Marie – FIFA representative said that ASEAN is an important area for FIFA’s football development program. Accordingly, 19 football development projects have been implemented in Southeast Asia in recent years, creating good conditions for regional football to develop. The presence of Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam in the Women’s World Cup shows that the future of Southeast Asian football is very potential.

Mr. Hassan Khan, FIFA’s Senior Project Manager, said that FIFA’s budget to support member associations has increased significantly in recent years. Accordingly, the budget received by member football associations through the FIFA Forward 3.0 program is higher than that of FIFA Forward 2.0 and FIFA Forward 1.0. FIFA also put the growth in investment in football at about 30% between 2023-2026.

Presented at the FIFA Forward 3.0, consultant Stewart Regan outlined the general steps of developing a strategic plan for football development. Accordingly, the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of football platforms need to be outlined. Mr. Stewart Regan said that there are 3 main elements to strategic planning including the importance of strategic planning, strategic planning and connection to agreed objectives. Of these three factors, making strategic planning needs to set out detailed problems to solve in a specific way.

From theory to practice, the delegates attending the workshop discussed issues in strategic planning based on the opportunities and challenges of the country’s football, on that basis, promoting strengths as well as overcoming weaknesses, existing…

The FIFA Forward 3.0 conference will continue on March 29 with the presentation of the AFC representative on the “Development Program of the Asian Football Confederation”. On this occasion, on the evening of March 28, the Vietnam Football Federation held a reception for members of the 12 representatives of ASEAN, AFC and FIFA to attend the conference.
