Head coach Gong Oh Kuyn’s team returns home in the welcome of fans
After a long journey from Tashkent (Uzbekistan) with a transit in Istanbul (Turkey), on the afternoon of June 15, the remaining members of the U23 Vietnam team were present at Noi Bai airport, Hanoi. All the fatigue of the team seemed to disappear because of the warm welcome of many fans.
At the 2022 AFC U23 Asian Cup, the U23 Vietnam team under the leadership of the new head coach Gong Oh Kyun showed an impressive performance, with many innovations in play-style and personnel, including both the presence of 2 players who are not yet 19 years old, Van Khang and Van Truong. Although they had to stop in the quarterfinals, coach Gong Oh Kyun’s team still received a lot of praise and encouragement from many fans. That is also the biggest reward for U23 Vietnam in the journey of many memories in the Asian this year.
Before that, yesterday (June 14), the first group of the team returned to Ho Chi Minh City and also received an enthusiastic welcome from the fans. Hundreds of fans were present at the airport. Many people also bring teddy bears and food to gift to young players.
At the end of the mission at the 2022 AFC U23 Asian Cup, the players will return to the club to continue playing in national football tournaments. Coach Gong Oh Kyun will return to Korea to complete the AFC Pro Coaching Course. He will return to Vietnam at the end of June to continue his work.
Because Asiad 19 has been postponed due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, Mr. Gong Oh Kyun’s work from now until the end of the year will mainly be to observe professional tournaments and national youth tournaments to select forces for the next year. U23 Vietnam, serving for the 32nd SEA Games and the Asian U23 qualifiers, will take place next year. In the coming time, VFF and coach Gong Oh Kyun will have a meeting to review and evaluate the results at the 2022 AFC U23 Asian Cup, and at the same time agree on a plan to prepare for the next tasks of U23 Vietnam, help U23 Vietnam and the next generations to have active preparations for future tournaments.
