Head coach Gong Oh Kyun continues to prepare forces for U23 Vietnam after the Asian Cup

U23 Vietnam has finished the mission at the 2022 AFC U23 Asian Cup after the quarter-final match with U23 Saudi Arabia. Although the team did not qualifier to continue, the team’s performance received a lot of encouragement from the fans. After this tournament, the team of head coach Gong Oh Kyun will continue to move forward with new goals.
About head coach Gong Oh Kyun, he will continue to prepare with U23 Vietnam towards the tasks in 2023. VFF General Secretary Le Hoai Anh said: “In the next period, head coach Gong Oh Kyun will complete the professional diploma coaching course in Korea, then return to Vietnam to continue his work. Because Asiad 19 has been postponed due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, Mr. Gong’s job is mainly to observe professional tournaments and national youth tournaments to select forces for the U23 Vietnam national team, serving the 32nd SEA Games and the Asian U23 qualifiers will take place next year.”
General Secretary Le Hoai Anh also shared, after coach Gong Oh Kyun returns to Vietnam, VFF and he will have a meeting to review and evaluate the results at the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2022, and at the same time discuss a plan to prepare for the next tasks of U23 Vietnam, helping U23 team and the next generations to have active preparations for future competitions.
Regarding the schedule of the U23 team, tomorrow (June 14), the southern group of members is expected to be at Tan Son Nhat airport at 17:05. Meanwhile, the flight of the Northern region members will be later, departing on the morning of June 14 and expected to arrive at Noi Bai airport at 3pm on June 15.
After coming back, the players will return to the clubs to prepare for the national tournaments in early July. Particularly, two young players Khuat Van Khang and Nguyen Van Truong will join the U19 national team, currently focusing on training to attend the 2022 AFF U19 Championship. Van Khang and Van Truong are two youngest players in the U23 Vietnam team, both are not yet 19 years old. The opportunity to play in international tournaments will definitely help these players have a faster career development.
