Ho Van Y nominated for Best Men’s Goalkeeper in the World 2021

Ho Van Y of Vietnamese futsal club Thai Son Nam has been nominated for the Best Men’s Goalkeeper in the World in 2021 by futsalplanet.com.

After 2018, this is the second time Ho Van Y has name in this award. This year, he will compete with Andre “Deko” Pereira Coelho, Thiago Mendes Rocha “Guitta”, Willian Felipe Dorn (Brazil), Didac Plana Oltra, Federico Perez Garrigos (Spain), Leonardo De Melo Vieira Leite “Higuita” (Kazakhstan), Nicolas Sarmiento (Argentina), Dmitri Putilov (Russia) và Alireza Samimi (Iran).

Since 2018 until now, there are only 5 goalkeepers have been selected in this list are Van Y, Guita, Higuita, Sarmiento, and Samimi, in which Sarmiento is the best goalkeeper of World Cup 2021. The personnel title of FutsalPlanet is called as Golden Ball of futsal. These awards have started from 2000, while the “Best goalkeeper” title has started from 2003. In which, Higuita is holding the record when winning this title 5 times in 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020.

In 2021, Ho Van Y had an outstanding performance in FIFA Futsal World Cup, was an important part to bring Vietnam team go into the round of 16 and only lost for a strong opponent Russia with a score of 2-3. In club-level, he and Thai Son Nam club also lifted to the championship of the National Championship for the 6th time.
