Binh Duong, despite the draw, still extended their gap with Hoang Anh Gia Lai to 11 points as Hoang Anh Gia Lai surprised lost 2-0 to Halida Thanh Hoa.

Meanwhile, Dong Tam Long An occupied third place from Da Nang after beating their hosts PVFC Song Lam Nghe An 4-2 in Vinh.

The first half between Hoa Phat Hanoi and Binh Duong took place in a lacklustre manner with hosts Hoa Phat Hanoi coming close to opening the scoring after 40 minutes.

Skipper Jucelio Da Silva headed the ball into Vu Hong Viet”s path after Antonio Padilha”s cross but Hong Viet”s misstimed finish, which was blocked by Nguyen The Anh.

After the break, Binh Duong increased their pace and created a clear chance on 57 minutes when Robson De Lima powered a finish which was turned around by Nguyen Tien Dung.

Ten minute later, Trung Vinh, who came in for Phung Cong Minh at the break, curled a freekick to the top corner of Tien Dung”s goal, scoring the opener.

As Binh Duong tired out, Hoa Phat Hanoi increased their pressure on Binh Duong defence and in stoppage time, centreback Tien Dung, who was supposed to be offside, pulled level for the hosts, helping them earn a previous point to continue to hope to survive in the league.

In another match, despite playing behind closed door at the Tu Do stadium in Hue, Halida Thanh Hoa shocked Hoang Anh Gia Lai with a 2-0 victory, through goals by Le Van Tuan and Mai Tien Thanh.

Halida Thanh Hoa, who were fined VND 50 million and judged to played three games behind closed door for their supports” violent actions against PVFC Song Lam Nghe An team in week 20, made a good start as they took the lead after three minutes.

Wandwasi Rodgers made a through ball for Le Van Tuan to slot the ball past goalie Quoc Viet.
Thai midfielder Datsakorn Thonglao wasted a good opportunity to level the score, finishing just wide from outside the penalty box.

Halida Thanh Hoa were dangerous in playing counter attacks and almost extended the lead after 14 minutes. Tien Thanh released Rodgers, who failed to find the net in a one-on-one situation with Quoc Viet.

After the break, when Hoang Anh Gia Lai continued their quest of searching an equaliser, they conceded another goal eight minutes into the second half.

Tien Thanh broke the offside trap and rounded goalie Quoc Viet before finding the unguarded net.

Six minutes later, Dong Huy Thai released Rodgers with a neat through ball but Rodgers finished just wide.

The defeat put an end to Hoang Anh Gia Lai”s run of four games. More importantly, it dented the two-time champions” slim hope of winning the league as they are now 11 points behind leaders Binh Duong while the league has five games to go.

In the bottom half, Huda Hue are returning to Division 1 as they suffered a 4-1 defeat to Southern Steel Saigon Port.

Taking the lead after eight minutes through a goal by Oyebola, but Huda Hue ended their visit to Ho Chi Minh City with a 4-1 heavy defeat.

Meanwhile, another newcomer Dong Thap suffered a 4-0 loss to PISICO Binh Dinh and continue to stay in the relegation zone.
