Viet Nam”s hope of winning the SEA Games women”s football title for the fourth time in a row was stamped out as it lost 0-2 to Thailand in the final on December 13.

Cheered enthusiastically by thousands of fans, host Thailand put Viet Nam into passive resistance at the very first minutes of the match with repeated attacks.

Wilaiporn pushed Thailand ahead with her goal from a right-hand shot at the 62nd minute. Her teammate Mairarern fixed the score at 2-0 by a successful penalty kick just six minutes later.

Losing the game, the Vietnamese women accepted the silver medal, while their male counterparts will compete with Singapore for the third place on December 14.
