With last week”s leaders P. Binh Dinh not playing in round nine, and three other top teams failed to gain good results, Da Nang went back to top of the V-League table after a 2-1 victory over K. Khanh Hoa.

With last week”s leaders PISICO Binh Dinh not playing in round nine, and three other top teams failed to gain good results, Da Nang went back to top of the national championship/V-League table after a 2-1 victory over Khatoco Khanh Hoa. Elsewhere in Binh Duong and Long An, two struggling giants Binh Duong and Dong Tam Long An gained three points to move out of the danger zone.

Two goals by Giang Thanh Thong and Almeida helped Da Nang beat their visiting Khatoco Khanh Hoa and earn three points to back to top of the table. The match started with a bang right after kick off. In the second minute, captain Giang Thanh Thong put the hosts in front with a volley.

Dang Nang”s centreback duo Manh Dung and Binh Minh failed to show a good understanding, and were often troubled by the visitors” direct passing style. In the 11thminute Felix had a one-two combination with Quang Hai before equalising.

However, Almeida restored a one goal lead for the hosts. His powerful header gave the visitors” goalkeeper Duc Hung no chance to save.

In the second half, the visitors dominated the game after Batsios, Ngoc Thach and Trong Thong were brought on. However, they failed to equalise. In the final minutes, the visitors were not given a spot kick after Manh Dung”s handball.
Da Nang are now on top of the table with 14 points, one point clear of LG.HN.ACB and PISICO Binh Dinh.

In Hanoi, a late goal by Mustafa Sama earned LG.HN.ACB a point, helping the capital city”s team remain in top three. Two-time champions Hoang Anh Gia Lai had a good start in Hanoi. They dominated the game right after kick off with attack after attack. In the first 20th minute, last year”s top scorer Kesley Alves had two opportunities with two powerful strikes from outside the penalty box. But he was denied twice by goalkeeper Viet Cuong with two excellent saves. In the 38th minute, coach player Kiatisuk gave the visitors a 1-0 lead. In a counter attack, Kesley combined with substitute Van Dan to set up unmarked Kiatisuk to score.

In the second half, Hoang Anh Gia Lai played defensive football. This made them pay the price. In the 86th minute, Mustafa Sama scored an equaliser for the host.

In Binh Duong, the once so-called Vietnamese Chelsea, Binh Duong gained consective victory after coach Le Thuy Hai took over, trouncing high-flying Hoa Phat Hanoi 3-0. The return of Philani strengthened the home side”s attack.
However, the visitors had the first scoring opportunity in the first minute. Dos Santos tested The Anh with a powerful strike, but the Vietnamese international blocked successfully. In the seventh minute, former captain of the Vietnamese under-23 Huu Thang set up Van Linh with a neat through ball to open the scoring. Huu Thang, who suffered from a career-threatnening injury after the 22nd SEA Games, produced an excellent performance in the first half.

Nine minutes into the second half, captain Truong Giang found Vu Phong in the penalty box, but the Vietnamese under-23 midfield failed to beat goalkeeper Manh Dung. However, he collected the deflected ball and set up Toledo to extend the lead.

Tieu Dat sealed the home 3-0 victory in the 74th minute. After the victory, Binh Duong moved up to ninth in the table with ten points.

Defending champions Dong Tam Long An gained a crucial 3-0 victory over Midako Nam Dinh, which helped them escape bottom of the table. Before the match, captain Phan Van Tai Em was presented the Vietnamese Player of the Year award in 2005. This was a great boost for Tai Em and his teammates.

The hosts were determined to gain three points in the match and in the first 60 minutes, they had three opportunities. However, they were denied by excellent goalkeeper Quang Huy.

However, when Tai Em was brought on in the 63rd minute, Dong Tam Long An played better. Two minutes after he was brought on, Tai Em made a through ball to Carlos Rodigrues, who set up Antonio to score. In the 73rd minute, Antonio failed to score in one-on-one situation with the visitors” goalkeeper Quang Huy. However, Carlos collected the deflected ball and score. Hoang Thuong made it 3-0 for the hosts in the 86th minute.
