A goal by Tran Trong Loc earned Phu My Nam Dinh the first national cup after edging PISICO Binh Dinh in the final on September 30.

Trong Loc fired home from outside the PISICO Binh Dinh box on 17 minutes to seal a narrow victory for Phu My Nam Dinh, who earned VND 250 million as bonus.

PISICO Binh Dinh had some chances to equalise but failed.

The final started in an exciting fashion as two sides played an end-to-end game. Foreign players of the two teams tried their luck with distance finishes soon after kick-off.

PISICO Binh Dinh had more possession time but it was Phu My Nam Dinh to take the lead.

Playmaker Trong Loc, unmarked, powered a low drive, giving goalie To Vinh Loi no chances.

Phu My Nam Dinh were dangerous in their attacks, with Ngoc Tu, Hoang Ngoc Linh and Phung Van Nhien failing to extend the advantage.

PISICO Binh Dinh started their quest for an equaliser after the break and they caused some troubles to Phu My Nam Dinh, who relied on goalie Bui Quang Huy”s good form to defend their marginal victory.

The Vietnam goalkeeper made several good saves to keep PISICO Binh Dinh players at bay.

Thai striker Sorayoot Chaikamdee”s quick volley failed to beat Quang Huy, who did even better in denying Sorayoot”s freekick minutes later.

Apart from Sorayoot”s attempts, PISICO Binh Dinh had some more chances but Minh Minh, Kim Binh, Khoa Thanh, Thanh Phuong and Nirut failed to find the net.

This was also the final match of PISICO Binh Dinh veteran Truong Viet Hoang, who was an ex-midfielder of The Cong and the Vietnam national team. Viet Hoang decided to hang his boosts after the match to start his new career as a manager.
