With Korea Republic’s Pohang Steelers having already been confirmed as the group winners, Urawa’s only hope of advancing is by grabbing one of the spots available to the three best second-placed teams from the East Zone.
The defending champions, however, are the worst-placed of the five teams currently occupying second place in their respective groups.
While Urawa will be confident of winning against Hanoi – having defeated the Vietnamese side 6-0 on Matchday Two – they will have to wait to know their fate with the other groups only concluding their final round of matches next week.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, coach Le Duc Tuan of Hanoi FC said: “Hanoi FC has just gone through a busy schedule. We aim for a beautiful match for the fans, thereby saying goodbye to the AFC Champions League with beautiful images from Vietnamese football.
Hanoi have found the step up to the AFC Champions League steep, with only three points to their name.
They will, however, relish the chance of denying Urawa a spot in the knockout stage and will aim to produce their best before their fans at the My Dinh National Stadium.
