The Vietnam Olympic team has all the forces heading towards ASIAD 19

On September 13, the Vietnam Olympic team welcomed 12 more players who had just completed the U23 Asian Cup Qualifier with U23 Vietnam. Accordingly, the team force was increased to 24 players.

The players reinforced for the Vietnam Olympics include: goalkeeper Cao Van Binh, Doan Huy Hoang, defenders Phan Tuan Tai, Nguyen Hong Phuc, Nguyen Duc Anh, Vo Minh Trong, midfielders Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Duc Phu, Nguyen Thai Son, Nguyen Dinh Bac, striker Nguyen Thanh Nhan and Bui Vi Hao.

Coach Hoang Anh Tuan will have 3 days to strengthen personnel, balance the physical foundation between groups of players and hone the playing style for the entire team. According to the regulations of the ASIAD 19 organizers, each team can register a maximum of 22 players, from a preliminary list of 30 players, so the team will say goodbye to 2 players before leaving for China to attend ASIAD 19 on the 16th Sep.

Also during the afternoon training session on September 13, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation, Vice President Tran Anh Tu met and encouraged coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team. It is known that the target of the Vietnam Olympics is to win tickets to pass the group stage of the ASIAD 19, Vietnam will meet Mongolia (September 19), Iran (September 21) and Saudi Arabia (September 24).

Sharing about the upcoming journey, midfielder Nguyen Thai Son said: “I am not afraid of any opponent. The whole team will try each match one by one. Competing a lot helps me improve my ability. I will learn from situations where I make mistakes. Even though we have little time to practice, the players have known each other for a long time, so we understand each other quite well,” Thai Son said.

“Coach Troussier and Hoang Anh Tuan are different, each has their own philosophy, but on the practice field, both coach ask us to focus” – Thai Son shared.

ASIAD 19 men’s football has a total of 23 teams, divided into 6 groups. There are 5 groups with 4 teams and 1 group with 3 teams. The top two teams in each group will advance to the next round. In addition, the 4 third-placed teams with the best records also move on.
