The Vietnam women’s team unfortunately lost to host Uzbekistan
Playing very hard, the Vietnamese women’s team had to admit defeat with a score of 0-1 against the Uzbekistan women’s team, in the opening match in the Olympic 2024 – 2nd Qualifier – Group C.
In the first minutes, the two teams played “tit for tat”. In the 11th minute, the home team had a shot at the goal but could not overcome Vietnam’s defense. In response, in the 14th and 15th minutes, Huynh Nhu continuously escaped and had close to the opponent’s goal, but the Uzbekistan goalkeeper was able to rush out and catch the ball right in front of the shoe of the captain of the Vietnamese women’s team. Half of the first half passed with the initiative belonging to the Vietnam women’s team, however, a clear opportunity to score had not yet come.
In the 30th minute, Diyorakhon lifted the ball out of goalkeeper Kim Thanh’s control, giving Uzbekistan the lead after a loose defense by the Vietnamese Women’s Team. Coach Mai Duc Chung then had to put Van Su on the field to replace Tran Thi Thu Thao. This midfielder was hurt after a previous dispute. Despite actively attacking, no more goals were scored from either team, the first half ended with a score of 1-0 in favor of host Uzbekistan.
In the second half, Thanh Nha and My Anh entered the field to replace Tuyet Dung and Hoang Thi Loan. In the 61st minute, the Vietnam women’s team received a free kick right in the 16m50 area. Huynh Nhu took a direct shot but the ball went incorrectly. In the following minutes, the Vietnam women’s team continuously attacked, but Thanh Nha, Hai Yen, and Huynh Nhu all missed opportunities. The match ended with a score of 1-0.
In the next match, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will meet the Indian women’s team at 5:00 p.m (Vietnam time) October 29 at Lokomotiv Stadium (Tashkent). In another match, Philippine women beat Chinese Taipei women 4-1.
