Halfback Bui Thi Tuyet on Thursday withdrew from the national women”s football team, just two days before their Beijing Olympics 2008 qualifier against Japan.

Tuyet, who was recalled after a long absence, has withdrawn from the game because of a knee injury.

Meanwhile, young defender Duong Phuong Thao is expected to sit out the match because of a heel injury. Doctors said she would not be fit to play for several more days.

National coach Ngo Le Bang and the team moved to Hai Phong City on Wednesday in preparation for the match.

A list of 18 players for the game was announced on August 3.
