The 2006 national championship/V-League will kick off on January 15 with champions Dong Tam Long An starting their defending campaign with a visit to Mitsustar Haier Haiphong.

* M.H.Haiphong vs. Dong Tam Long An

This is the second time the two clubs have met each other in two weeks. Their first meeting, the National Super Cup, ended with a 2-1 victory for the hosts. However, their clash in the first round of the V-League will be different. It would be very difficult for the hosts to earn a draw, let alone achieving their good results of the National Super Cup.
Dong Tam Long An want to avenge their 2-1 defeat two week ago and make a good start for their campaign.
Last season, M.H.Haiphong beat Dong Tam Long An 3-2 at home and lost 3-1 at Long An.

Verdict: 1-2

* Da Nang vs. Hoang Anh Gia Lai

The two clubs have their own troubles. Da Nang have their players Huynh Quoc Anh and Chau Le Phuoc Vinh charged for their involvement in a match fixing case of the under-23 team at the 23rd SEA Games. In the mean time, president Doan Nguyen Duc of Hoang Anh Gia Lai was charged with bribing referees.
Therefore, the two sides want to gain a victory to forget their troubles. Last year, Da Nang beat out-of-sort Hoang Anh Gia Lai 3-0 at home. It will not easy for the hosts to gain such a good result. The visiting side signed three new players, Duy Quang in the midfield, Duy Hoang in the defence and Kesley Alves, who was top scorer of the V-League in 2005. These players may help the visitors to gain at least one point from their hosts.

Verdict: 1-1

* M.Nam Dinh vs. Binh Duong

The hosts and their visitors gained different results at the second round of the National Cup with the hosts advancing and their visitors kicked out. However, Binh Duong may show a different face in the V-League. Last year, the two sides drew 3-3. However, those who scored in the match left their two clubs. Binh Duong may rely on M.Nam Dinh”s former striker Amaobi, who scored two goals against his old club last year when playing for Da Nang.
Last year, Binh Duong won only one point in the two meetings with Nam Dinh. Binh Duong do not want this history to repeat.

Verdict: 1-2

* Hoa Phat Hanoi vs. LG.HN.ACB

This a derby of Hanoi, but last year”s derby turned out a disappointment. Fortunately, the two sides want to make a good start, so their clash may be more interesting. Hoa Phat Hanoi with a better coach (famous coach Vuong Tien Dung) and better foreign players may earn three points.

Verdict: 1-0

* Binh Dinh vs. Khatoco Khanh Hoa

Khatoco Khanh Hoa, who won promotion last year, will suffer from greater pressure than their hosts when they make a visit to Quy Nhon. Coach Ngoc Hao of Khatoco Khanh Hoa will not risk playing tit-for-tat against their hosts. The visitors will likely start the game cautiously and relied on counterattacks.
Meanwhile, Binh Dinh want to gain three points from the newcomers as there are not many opponents for the home side to gain points in their predicted struggle for surival.

Verdict: 1-0

* Southern Steel Tien Giang vs. PJICO Song Lam Nghe An

Hosts Southern Steel Tieng Giang will have a difficult game against troubled PJICO Song Lam Nghe An. The vistors, despite the arrest of Le Quoc Vuong and Pham Van Quyen, and coach Nguyen Huu Thang for their involvement in match fixing, still have good players, who can earn them at least one point from their hosts.
For Southern Steel Tien Giang, their struggle to survive start from the first round.

Verdict: 0-1
