U18 Seoul Eou Cup 2023: Regret for U18 Vietnam

U18 Vietnam played well against U18 Ukraine and took the lead twice, but unfortunately lost 2-3 at the last minute. However, it is worth noting that the players have made progress compared to the previous match.

Coach Hoang Anh Tuan has made some adjustments in personnel by leaving players like Long Vu, Huynh Trieu or Huu Tuan on the bench and putting goalkeeper Dinh Hai in the starting position. Central defender Le Nguyen Hoang was given the captain’s armband and the midfield was led by Nguyen Cong Phuong. Meanwhile, striker Dinh Quang Kiet with his impressive height is expected to bring a difference to U18 Vietnam.

Unlike the first match, U18 Vietnam created a pretty good match against European representatives. In the 23rd minute, the U18 Vietnam took a 1-0 lead, from Cong Phuong’s goal: From a direct free kick outside the penalty area, Nguyen Cong Phuong accurately scored to open the score. This goal is really a good source of spiritual motivation, helping coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team become more confident. However, Ukraine’s U18 players still knew how to take advantage of the opportunity to score a 1-1 equalizer before the end of the first half.

In the second half, coach Hoang Anh Tuan continued to ask players to play proactively and look for opportunities to score against their opponents. In the 55th minute, Hoang Minh Tien (9) finished accurately, U18 Vietnam once again took a 2-1 lead. Undeterred, U18 Ukraine diligently organized attacks and equalized in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, the score did not stop there when Dmytrii scored the goal that sealed the 3-2 victory for U18 Ukraine.

Although they did not get a score in this match, what Coach Hoang Anh Tuan’s players showed during the 90 minutes showed progress and hope in the final match against U18 Korea, on the afternoon of October 15, 2019. Our young players will play even better.

In recent years, youth training has always been a top priority for VFF. Most of the players of the current U18 national team are young players who received major investment from VFF with a long training trip in Germany in March 2022, in the project “Vietnamese young football talents in Germany” as well as international training and competition trips. From training trips and quality international friendly matches, young Vietnamese players will have the opportunity to learn and develop, because in the future they will be the next class to the U23/Olympic and National team.
