To prepare for this tournament, the team gathered from October 2 in Hanoi and practiced at the field of the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. The team’s strength is mainly players who played for the U17 Vietnam team in the recent U17 Asian Cup 2023, including prominent names such as goalkeeper Cao Van Binh, defender Phan Van Thanh, and Nguyen Luong Tuan Khai, Dang Thanh Binh, Le Nguyen Hoang, Nguyen Manh Hung, midfielder Vi Dinh Thuong, Nguyen Cong Phuong, striker Le Dinh Long Vu…

Head coach Hoang Anh Tuan said that the main goal of the U18 Vietnam team when participating in the U18 Seoul EOU Cup 2023 is to hone the expertise of young players. “At this age, you still have a lot to improve. The coaching staff is trying to correct skills and reshape the playing style for the players because each club has different training philosophies. The coaching staff’s task is to bring them to a common trajectory, to the playing style that the national team is aiming for. Once you have good technique, then you can talk about tactics and playstyle. In addition, a factor that also needs to be mentioned is the background of Asians and Vietnamese people. Compared to advanced national teams, we still have a certain gap. For example, when U18 Vietnam competes with U18 Korea, U18 Ukraine and U18 Morocco, they will see that they are superior to them. Of course, physical issues need time to improve,” coach Hoang Anh Tuan said.

At the U18 Seoul Eou Cup 2023, teams will compete in a round robin and the team with the best performance will win the championship. The U18 Vietnam team will meet U18 Morocco on October 10, U18 Ukraine on October 12 and U18 Korea on October 15. All matches took place at Mokdong Sports Complex, South Korea.
