U22 Vietnam to face China, Korea, and Uzbekistan in warm-up matches ahead of the 33rd SEA Games
As part of their preparations for the 33rd SEA Games, the U22 Vietnam national team will participate in the CFA Team China Panda Cup 2025, an international football tournament taking place in Chengdu (Sichuan Province, China) from November 12 to 18, 2025.
The tournament will feature four strong and promising U22 national teams — Korea, Uzbekistan, host nation China, and Vietnam. This marks the third consecutive time the U22 Vietnam team has been invited to participate in the prestigious event organized by the Chinese Football Association (CFA).
Beyond being a result of the Memorandum of Understanding on football development cooperation between the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Chinese Football Association (CFA), Vietnam’s continued participation in the CFA Team China Panda Cup also reaffirms the U22 team’s credibility, technical quality, and consistent performance on the international stage.
In their most recent appearance in March 2025, under acting head coach Đinh Hồng Vinh, U22 Vietnam delivered an impressive showing, remaining unbeaten (drawing 1-1 with Korea, 0-0 with Uzbekistan, and 1-1 with hosts China) to finish third overall. Goalkeeper Cao Văn Bình was named the tournament’s Best Goalkeeper by the organizers.
The CFA Team China Panda Cup 2025 is considered a crucial warm-up event for teams preparing for the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026. For U22 Vietnam, it represents a valuable opportunity for international competition — allowing the coaching staff to fine-tune the squad, test personnel and tactics, and build momentum ahead of the final preparation phase for the 33rd SEA Games.
According to the plan, the U22 Vietnam team will regroup at the same time as the senior national team during the November 2025 FIFA Days.
