U23 Vietnam competes with U23 Iraq and U23 Croatia in Dubai Cup 2022
According to the latest information of the organisastion committee, the opponents of U23 Vietnam in Dubai Cup 2022 are U23 Irap and U23 Croatia.
As part of the preparation plan for the SEA Games 31 and the 2022 AFC U23 Asian Cup, U23 Vietnam will participate in the international U23 football tournament – Dubai Cup 2022 organised by IAST company in collaboration with the UAE Football Association. This is a highly appreciated tournament with the participation of 10 quality U23 teams from different regions of Asia and a guest from Europe, including: host UAE, Iraq, Croatia, Uzbekistan, China, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Qatar, Thailand and Vietnam.
The tournament will take place from March 23 to March 29 according to the play-off pairing format in round 1 and round 2. Based on the results of the two rounds, the teams will continue to compete. Round 3 is also the round to determine the final ranking. Thus, each team will play a total of 3 matches at the international U23 football tournament – Dubai Cup 2022.
According to the schedule announced by the organisers, U23 Vietnam will meet Iraq U23 in round 1 (March 23) and Croatia U23 in round 2 (March 26). Round 3 will take place on March 29 with matches to be determined after the end of round 2.
The matches will take place at 3 stadiums: Dubai Police Stadium, The Sevens Stadium and Al Awir Stadium.
To prepare for this tournament, U23 Vietnam will gather again after finishing round 4 of Night Wolf V.League 1- 2022 and round 2 of LS V.League 2- 2022. This is also the time when Vietnam national team gatheres to prepare for the remaining 2 matches at the FIFA World Cup 2022 Asian 3rd Qualifier. Just like the parallel gatherings of 2 teams, head coach Park Hang-seo will be responsible for the joint management of both teams, and at the same time assign specific tasks to the assistants in the two teams’ coaches to ensure the best professional work of the two teams. Head coach Park Hang-seo will also work with VFF to agree to assign an assistant to coordinate with the members of the coaching assistants to lead the U23 Vietnam travelling to UAE to attend the U23 international tournament – Dubai Cup 2022. Meanwhile, , he will directly take charge of directing the Vietnamese national team to welcome the Oman national team at home on March 24 and then a visit to the Japanese on March 29 in the third qualifying round of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
