U23 Vietnam players try their best to show their ability in the practice match against Hanoi U21

On the afternoon of August 5, the U23 Vietnam had a practice match with the U21 Hanoi at the stadium of the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. This is the team’s first practice match since focusing on training to prepare for the 2023 AFF U23 Championship.

In the past few days, due to the schedule of matches at national professional tournaments, the U23 Vietnam has not been able to have a full force. Before the practice match with U21 Hanoi, coach Hoang Anh Tuan only had 17 players in hand because goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien and midfielder Nguyen Chinh Dang were asked by the host club to play in the V.League and the First Division. The duo will return to the army after completing the match at the club according to the plan agreed with head coach Hoang Anh Tuan.

There is not yet a full force to serve the trials, but coach Hoang Anh Tuan still tries to arrange personnel for the U23 Vietnam squad, mainly for the purpose of evaluating the training results of the team, especially new faces.

Results after 2 rounds, 45 minutes each, U23 Vietnam won with a score of 2-1. Dang Duong opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a technical finish from a central attack situation. U21 Hanoi had an equalizer in the 78th minute, but then Le Dinh Long Vu sealed a 2-1 victory for U23 Vietnam with a quick escape in the 86th minute before defeating the U21 Hanoi goalkeeper in the face-to-face position.

After a week of training with only limited exercises due to lack of numbers, this afternoon’s practice match with U21 Hanoi was also the first time the players had to work hard to exercise at full capacity on the whole field. That is also the reason why coach Hoang Anh Tuan was quite satisfied with the performance of his students.

According to the plan, the U23 Vietnam team will have another practice match with U21 Hanoi on the afternoon of August 10. On August 14, the team will go to Thailand for training before the 2023 AFF U23 Championship. Here, the team will have a friendly match with U23 Bahrain on August 15.
