VFF Executive Committee holds 13th meeting of the IX Term (2022–2026)

The meeting was attended by Mr. Nguyễn Hồng Minh, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Sports Authority; Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF); VFF Vice Presidents and Executive Committee members; chairpersons of the Federation’s standing committees; the Chairman of the National Coaches Council; leaders of the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre, the Football Magazine, the General Secretariat, as well as heads of the VFF’s professional departments.

In his opening remarks, VFF President Trần Quốc Tuấn highlighted the favourable momentum of Vietnamese football, underpinned by the encouraging performances of the national teams and the growing support of partners and sponsors. He affirmed that the key objectives of the current term are being implemented in line with the Federation’s strategic direction, and called on Executive Committee members to demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility by engaging in substantive discussions and providing constructive input on the agenda items, particularly those relating to personnel matters and preparations for the 10th VFF Congress.

According to the meeting agenda, the Executive Committee devoted considerable time to discussing preparations for the 10th VFF Congress (2026–2030). A key focus was the review of the draft personnel plan for the Executive Committee, Inspection Committee, Disciplinary Committee and Appeals Committee. The draft was prepared in accordance with Vietnamese law and the VFF Statutes, with the aim of ensuring continuity while promoting renewal and enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the Federation’s leadership structure for the new term.

In addition to personnel matters, the Executive Committee received a report from VFF General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Phú reviewing the Federation’s activities during the first six months of 2026 and outlining key priorities for the remainder of the year. According to the report, the VFF closely followed the objectives and tasks approved at the 2025 Annual Congress, implementing coordinated initiatives across a wide range of areas, including technical development, competition organisation, youth football, women’s football, futsal, refereeing, communications and international relations.

With regard to technical activities, Vietnam’s national teams have carried out their training camps, preparation programmes and international competitions in accordance with their planned schedules. The senior national team, the U23 national team, and the men’s and women’s national futsal teams all recorded encouraging results on the international stage, while the youth national teams have continued their preparations for major international competitions later this year.

At the same time, the VFF has continued to work closely with the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) to review and finalise the competition calendar for the 2026/27 National Professional Football Competitions, ensuring alignment between the domestic football schedule and the official calendars of FIFA, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF).

In terms of football development, the VFF has continued to implement a number of key programmes aimed at improving youth development, promoting women’s football, futsal and grassroots football, while further strengthening coach and referee education. The Federation has also accelerated the application of sports science, technology and data analysis to technical work, alongside enhancing its communications efforts to further promote Vietnamese football and engage fans nationwide.

Building on the progress achieved so far, the Executive Committee also discussed the VFF’s key priorities for the second half of 2026. These include preparations for the national teams’ upcoming competitions, the successful organisation of the 2026/27 National Football Competitions, the continued development of youth football, women’s football and futsal, as well as accelerating preparations for the 10th VFF Congress.

Following the presentation of reports and discussions, the Executive Committee unanimously approved the meeting’s key agenda items, including:

• the report reviewing the VFF’s activities during the first six months of 2026 and the implementation plan for the remainder of the year;
• the operational plan for Vietnam’s national teams in the second half of 2026;
• the report on preparations for the 2026/27 National Professional Football Competitions; and
• the progress report on preparations for the 10th VFF Congress, together with the proposal to hold the Congress in mid-December 2026 in Hanoi.

The Executive Committee also approved the draft personnel plan for the VFF Executive Committee, Inspection Committee, Disciplinary Committee and Appeals Committee for the 10th term (2026–2030). The Congress Organising Committee and the Personnel Subcommittee were assigned to continue consulting the VFF’s member organisations as the basis for implementing the personnel process in full compliance with the VFF Statutes, established procedures and relevant regulations.

In his closing remarks, VFF President Trần Quốc Tuấn called on the Federation’s departments to promptly implement the tasks approved by the Executive Committee and to maintain close coordination in preparing for the 10th VFF Congress, ensuring that all preparations are completed on schedule, meet the required standards and fully comply with the applicable regulations. He also urged all units to focus on achieving the Federation’s key objectives during the remaining months of 2026, laying a solid foundation for the continued development of Vietnamese football in the years ahead.
