VFF visits and holds working session with Son La Football Association
On 9 August, a Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) delegation led by VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu, accompanied by VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu and representatives of the VFF Football Development, National Teams and Grassroots Football Department, visited and held a working session with the Son La Football Association to discuss football development in the locality.
At the working session, the two sides focused on the activities of the Son La Football Federation, the development of grassroots, youth and women’s football, coach and referee education, as well as preparations for the upcoming Congress of the Son La Football Federation for the new term.
According to Mr. Dieu Chinh Quy, President of the Son La Football Federation, the province has a strong football tradition and foundation, particularly in women’s football. The provincial federation currently has 22 member clubs, while grassroots football has gradually been strengthened. Notably, the Son La U16 women’s team won a bronze medal at the National U16 Women’s Football Championship, marking a positive milestone in the province’s youth development efforts.
Despite these achievements, women’s football in Son La still faces several challenges, including the development of a successor pool of players, training facilities and conditions, socialization resources, and talent identification in remote and mountainous areas. In light of these challenges, Mr. Dieu Chinh Quy expressed his hope that VFF would continue to provide strategic guidance and technical support to help improve the quality of women’s football in Son La, with the long-term goal of participating in the National Women’s Football Cup and the National Women’s Football Championship.
The Son La Football Federation will also coordinate with the local sports sector to explore new solutions and approaches to address existing limitations and gradually develop grassroots football, particularly women’s football.
Speaking at the working session, VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu praised the efforts of the Son La Football Federation in maintaining and developing the local football movement. He encouraged the provincial federation to proactively prepare its personnel and all necessary conditions for the upcoming Congress for the new term, while continuing to focus on the development of grassroots, youth and women’s football.
VFF affirmed that it would coordinate with and support the Son La Football Federation in preparing for and implementing football programmes and activities in the coming period.
VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu said that earlier that morning, the delegation had held a working session with leaders of the Son La Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to discuss orientations for the development of women’s football. According to Mr. Nguyen Van Phu, Son La is one of the localities with a strong tradition and foundation in women’s football development, and has recorded encouraging initial results in youth training and the development of the grassroots football movement.
VFF will coordinate with and support the Son La Football Federation in preparing for and organizing the upcoming Congress for the new term, as well as developing programmes and activity plans. At the same time, VFF will focus on the development of women’s and youth football and on improving the quality of coach and referee education.
In addition, VFF provided VND 100 million to support the Son La Football Federation’s governance and office administration, contributing to strengthening the operational capacity of the member organization.
