Vietnam Team arrive in Indonesia, ready for FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026
After travelling from Hanoi, the Vietnam Team arrived in Indonesia on the afternoon of 23 September to begin preparations for the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026.

At Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, head coach Kim Sang Sik and his players received a warm welcome from the host organising committee, who also provided dedicated assistance with immigration procedures at a separate counter. After completing the necessary formalities, the team continued their journey by bus to Bandung, where Vietnam will play their first two group-stage matches.
At Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, defender Cao Pendant Quang Vinh spoke to FIFA reporters about his feelings ahead of the tournament.
“This is a new tournament and the first edition. We are very excited to take part in this new competition. As the tournament is organised by FIFA, I hope everything will go smoothly and that we will receive plenty of support from fans across all participating countries,” he said.
Assessing Group B, which features Thailand, the Philippines and Pakistan, Quang Vinh acknowledged that Vietnam will face a challenging test.
“It is a difficult group. They have some good players. We will give our very best to compete for top spot in the group,” he said.
Quang Vinh also affirmed that the Vietnam Team’s objective is to target victory in every match and compete for the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026 title.
“Our expectation is always to win our matches. We want to win the tournament. The whole team is very ambitious, so we will do everything we can to win the title,” he added.
According to the schedule, the Vietnam Team will face the Philippines on 26 September and Thailand on 29 September, with both matches to be played at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium. The team will then return to Jakarta for their final group-stage match against Pakistan on 2 October.
As assigned by the Standing Executive Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), VFF Vice President Trần Anh Tú will continue to serve as Head of Delegation of the Vietnam Team at the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026.
