Vietnam U23 national team travels to Saudi Arabia, ready for the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026 Finals

This morning (local time), the Vietnam U23 national team departed for Saudi Arabia to officially begin their journey at the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026 Finals.

At the Finals, Vietnam U23 are placed in Group A and will face U23 Jordan on January 6, U23 Kyrgyzstan on January 9, before concluding the group stage with a match against hosts U23 Saudi Arabia on January 12.

Prior to traveling to the competition venue, head coach Kim Sang Sik and his players underwent a training camp in Qatar and played a friendly match against U23 Syria on December 30. The match was considered an important opportunity for the coaching staff to review personnel, assess players’ form, and fine-tune the team’s playing style ahead of the official tournament.

This morning (local time), the Vietnam U23 national team departed Doha for Jeddah, a city located in the southwestern region of Saudi Arabia. The flight from Doha to Jeddah takes approximately two hours. During the training camp in Qatar, the weather in Doha was relatively cold, with temperatures ranging from 11 to 18°C. In contrast, the weather in Jeddah is forecast to be warmer and more suitable for competition conditions for the Vietnam U23 team, with temperatures ranging from 20 to 30°C.

According to the plan, the Vietnam U23 team is scheduled to land at Jeddah Airport at 12:30 (local time). The transfer from the airport to the hotel takes around 20 minutes. Head coach Kim Sang Sik will base his decision on the players’ physical condition as well as the available time of the day to determine whether the team will hold a training session. If conditions are favorable, the Vietnam U23 team will have their first training session in Jeddah at 18:30 on the same day.
