Vietnam Women’s Futsal Team gather to prepare for the 2026 ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship
The Vietnam women’s futsal team began their training camp on January 18 in Ho Chi Minh City with a squad of 20 players, preparing for the 2026 ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship, which will take place from February 24 to March 2, 2026 at Terminal Hall, Terminal 21 Shopping Mall in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.
According to the draw, the Vietnam women’s futsal team were placed in Group B alongside Myanmar, the Philippines and Australia, while Group A consists of hosts Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. Commenting on the group, head coach Nguyễn Đình Hoàng noted that competing in a four-team group would present greater challenges due to the higher number of matches compared to Group A. “Myanmar and the Philippines are opponents we have recently faced at the SEA Games and they have shown clear progress, while Australia are considered a strong team that could pose many difficulties for the Vietnam women’s futsal team,” he said.
In this training camp, the coaching staff have called up several new faces who impressed at the 2026 National Women’s Futsal Championship. According to head coach Nguyễn Đình Hoàng, these players meet the necessary requirements to strengthen positions that needed reinforcement. “The new players need to show a positive attitude and maintain a high level of focus in training in order to quickly adapt and integrate into the team’s overall playing style,” he said.
Regarding the team’s objectives at the tournament, the head coach of the Vietnam women’s futsal team emphasized that the entire squad will strive to perform at their best, with the immediate goal of advancing past the group stage and ultimately aiming for the highest possible finish in the competition.
The 2026 ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship features seven of the region’s top women’s futsal teams, including Thailand (world No. 8), Vietnam – the defending champions (world No. 11), Indonesia (world No. 18), Malaysia (world No. 21), Myanmar (world No. 38), Australia (world No. 66) and the Philippines (world No. 69). All matches will be open to the public free of charge and broadcast live on the TrueVisions Now platform (Thailand).
