Binh Duong became the first Vietnamese football club to reach the semifinals of the Asian Football Confederation Cup (AFC Cup) after beating Chonburi (Thailand) 2-0 at Go Dau stadium.

After a 2-2 draw with Chonburi on the Thai club’s home turf two weeks ago, Binh Duong needed only a 0-0 or 1-1 draw to secure a berth in the semifinals at the continental club football competition,  but the Vietnamese club did more than that.

Binh Duong could not have an easy game with Chonburi in the first half.

After the break Philani helped Binh Duong take the lead when he scored the opener in the 57th  minute. Molina doubled the score for Binh Duong before he failed to convert the chance into goal in the end of the match.

Chonburi tried to fight back from two down but failed to and conceded a 2-0 loss. As a result,  Binh Duong won Chonburi 4-2 on aggregate, deserving a place in the semis of the AFC Cup. Their performance today satisfied all Vietnamese fans.
