On the morning of April 26, 2025, the opening ceremony of the first Basic Analysis Course for analysts working at V.League and National First Division clubs was held at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). This professional activity, organized by the VFF, is part of a roadmap to enhance technical analysis capacity across the entire system, aiming to modernize Vietnamese football through the application of data science and technology.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Nguyễn Văn Phú – General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Ms. Nguyễn Thanh Hà – Deputy General Secretary of VFF and Head of the Course Organizing Committee, Mr. Koshida Takeshi – Technical Director of VFF, Mr. Yutaka Ikeuchi – Football Expert from the Japan Football Association, along with 15 participants from professional football clubs across the country.

The course will take place from April 26 to April 29, 2025. Participants will attend both theoretical and practical sessions held at the newly established Analysis Department under the VFF, which is equipped with modern software systems and tools currently used in professional football around the world. The course will be directly instructed by Mr. Nguyễn Anh Tuấn, an analyst for VFF and the Vietnam National Team.

In addition to classroom sessions, the course also includes a field practice session at the match between Hanoi FC and Quang Nam FC, part of Round 20 of the LPBank V.League 1–2024/25 season, scheduled for tomorrow afternoon (April 27). During this match, participants will be guided on filming and analyzing the game, aiming to improve their skills in observation, data recording, and processing in a real match environment.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, VFF General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Phú emphasized that this course marks an important starting point for the plan to develop a nationwide network of professional football analysts. Especially in the current era of rapid advancements in science, technology, and artificial intelligence, analysis work — combining human expertise with technological tools — will undoubtedly play a crucial role in coaching and enhancing performance during competitions.

“Traditional analysis, through measuring physical fitness, speed, match performance, passing accuracy, and goal-scoring rates, has been applied by us for many years. Modern analysis, however, will go further — helping to study opponents, better predict upcoming matches, and assess players more effectively to support transfers and squad building. Leading clubs and national teams around the world have already been deploying modern analysis methods. Vietnamese football will also move step-by-step alongside this trend, applying science and technology to assist coaches in timely analysis before, during, and after matches,” General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Phú noted.

He further stated that over the past two decades, the development of science and technology — particularly in the field of football — has brought about profound changes worldwide. Modern football systems, top clubs, and national teams are increasingly applying cutting-edge technologies to enhance training quality, match organization, and, ultimately, to pursue victory. “Vietnamese football cannot stand outside this global trend. Therefore, the VFF has urgently established and put into operation a modern Football Analysis Department, and today’s course marks the first step in our roadmap to developing a network of professional analysts in Vietnam. Through this course, the VFF expects participants to acquire fundamental knowledge of professional-level match analysis, thereby providing effective support to coaches and technical teams in match preparation, training, as well as athlete evaluation and management,” concluded General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Phú.

Currently, the explosive development of artificial intelligence (AI) in video data processing and interpretation has significantly saved time and improved the accuracy of tactical analyses. This advancement has paved the way for a trend of integrating human expertise with technology in strategic decision-making, personalized player training, and team performance management.

According to VFF General Secretary Nguyễn Văn Phú, traditional analysis — measuring physical fitness, speed, match performance, passing accuracy, and goal-scoring rates — has been applied for many years. However, modern analysis will further meet the needs of opponent scouting, better match forecasting, and player evaluation to support transfers and squad development. Leading clubs and national teams worldwide are actively implementing modern analysis methods. Vietnamese football will also gradually move in tandem with this trend, applying scientific and technological advances to assist coaches with timely analysis before, during, and after matches.

As part of its strategic orientation, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) will continue to organize advanced training courses in football analysis and maintain a connected data network between the VFF Analysis Department, football clubs, and training centers. This will better support coaching, talent scouting, and player development at all levels.
