A representative from FIFA visited and conducted a working session with the leadership of the VFF
In the afternoon of December 2nd, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn had a meeting with representatives of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) as part of the working trip of the delegation to Vietnam.
Welcome the FIFA delegation – Mr. Theodore Giannikos, Director of the FIFA Strategic Project, was joined by VFF’s President Trần Quốc Tuấn was joined by Mr. Nguyễn Văn Phú – VFF’s General Secretary; Mr. Nguyễn Minh Châu, Deputy General Secretary of VFF; and Mrs. Nguyễn Thanh Hà, Deputy General Secretary of VFF.
The purpose of the delegation’s visit and working with the VFF representatives is to assess the current state of Vietnamese football, prepare for projects under FIFA’s program with global member associations, and to outline some cooperation plans for the near future.
During the meeting, Mr. Theodore Giannikos expressed his attention and high appreciation for the rapid development of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) in recent times and the impressive achievements in organizing international tournaments, the Asian qualifiers for 2025, especially as all Vietnamese national teams have advanced past the group stage and will compete in the 2026 Asian Finals. The FIFA representative shared that the purpose of this working trip is to gain a comprehensive understanding of Vietnamese football, including: the stadium and training facilities, sports infrastructure, activities of professional clubs, the development of women’s football, as well as the overall picture of the marketing and sports commerce market in Vietnam. This information will help FIFA assess the region’s potential and serve as a basis for future planning related to the sector.
On behalf of the leadership of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn provided an overview of the development of Vietnamese football over the past years, highlighting the progress in youth training systems, professional football, women’s football, domestic tournaments, and international achievements. He also expressed gratitude to FIFA for the practical support provided to Vietnam recently, especially in areas such as infrastructure, women’s football development programs, and technical assistance projects.
Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn affirmed that the VFF always values its partnership with FIFA and is ready to collaborate on projects aimed at promoting the growth of football both regionally and globally.
The visit and working session of Mr. Theodore Giannikos once again demonstrated FIFA’s interest in Vietnamese football and opened up new opportunities for cooperation in the future.
