“I’m very happy and honored to be chosen as the head coach of the ASEAN All Stars. This team is made up of many outstanding players from Southeast Asian countries. Although we only have one day to train and prepare, the whole team will do our best to play with dedication and deliver an exciting match for the fans,” said Coach Kim Sang Sik.

Notably, Vietnam contributes four players to the ASEAN All Stars squad for this match: Đỗ Duy Mạnh, Nguyễn Văn Vĩ, Nguyễn Hoàng Đức, and Nguyễn Hai Long. All of them are experienced players who have represented the Vietnamese national team in major tournaments and are expected to make a strong impression in the clash with Manchester United.

On the visiting side from England, Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim expressed his admiration for the passion of ASEAN fans: “I’m truly grateful to know that many supporters waited for hours to welcome us. The love from the fans here is incredible and serves as a great source of motivation for the whole team. Although we’ve just gone through a long journey with changing weather conditions, we will play with the highest spirit.”

Midfielder Mason Mount, speaking on behalf of the Manchester United players, emphasized the importance of guiding young talents in the squad: “Every match and every tour is a valuable opportunity for young players to learn and grow. We will always play with the highest level of teamwork and unity.”

Meanwhile, midfielder Sergio Aguero – representing the ASEAN All Stars – expressed his determination: “We all want to beat Manchester United in this match. Although we haven’t had much time to prepare, the whole team will give it our all.”

The match between the ASEAN All-Stars and Manchester United is part of the Maybank Challenge Cup, organized to raise funds in support of the YASA charity in Malaysia. This event not only provides an opportunity for ASEAN players to showcase their talent against one of the world’s top football clubs but also helps promote humanitarian values through the sport. The inclusion of four Vietnamese national players in the ASEAN All-Stars lineup is a source of pride for Vietnamese football and offers a valuable chance to gain experience from facing world-class opponents.
