Coach Mai Duc Chung: The whole team is in good spirits and health

Despite going through a long journey from France to the Philippines to attend the 2022 AFF Women’s Cup, the Vietnamese women’s team is still maintaining a good mental state and health – Head coach Mai Duc Chung shared at online press conference before the tournament.

Head coach Mai Duc Chung said: “The whole team had a journey of nearly a day and arrived in Manila last night. However, we had a good night’s sleep. The coaching assistants decided to give the players more time to rest and start today training schedule at 9 am. After breakfast, the players had a light training session at the hotel. All are in good health and happy.”

When asked about the team force in the tournament, Mr. Mai Duc Chung said: “Currenlty, there are also some players who have been injured and will receive more attention like Thu Thuong (injured from Vietnam) or Diem My (injured in a friendly match against the French women’s team on July 1) and a few other light injuries. This year is a busy year for Vietnamese women’s football. After the ASIAD in India, we started preparing for the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam and the next is AFF Cup this time. If the upcoming ASIAD was not postponed, our schedule would be even more busy. However, the Vietnam Football Federation has arranged a suitable plan for the whole team and together with the coaching assitants came up with a training schedule, in order to reduce the intensity and create conditions for players to rest, in order to maintain best state”.

The head coach of the Vietnam women’s team also shared the role of tournaments such as the AFF Women Cup in the development of regional football: “We attach great importance to the Southeast Asian women’s football championship. ASIAN. This is a regular tournament that is held, creating opportunities for players to rub and gain experience, thereby further developing women’s football in the region”.

Also attended in the press conference, head coach of Myanmar team Thet Thet Win said: “For our preparation for this tournament is Just 2 weeks. Most of Players are who play in last SEA Games. We give some rest for players after the SEA Games Vietnam. I just try to fix there mental problems in this two weeks because they got unexpected result in the last SEA Games. I hope they will show their best performance in this tournament and we will try to reach the best”.

Also at the press conference, head coach of Cambodia – Mr. Prak Vu-thy said: “We have just competed in the SEA Games in Vietnam and have about 2 weeks of focusing on preparing for this tournament. We have here a new team and will try to give our best. Hopefully we can get more things from this tournament, towards the 32nd SEA Games held in Cambodia.”

Sharing about this tournament, Laos’ head coach Vongmisay Soubouakham said: “At the SEA Games, we had the opportunity to compete with top teams in Southeast Asia such as Thailand, Myanmar and at this tournament we have Vietnam. Laos is a young team. We try to do our best and hope to get more points and goals.”
