Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn Appointed to FIFA’s Men’s National Team Competitions Committee for the 2025–2029 Term

On October 7, 2025, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) officially announced the appointment of Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn – Executive Committee Member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) – as a member of FIFA’s Men’s National Team Competitions Committee for the 2025–2029 term

According to the official letter sent to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), FIFA stated that the appointment was approved by the FIFA Council during its meeting on October 2, 2025, and affirmed its commitment to providing support and favorable conditions for Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn to fulfill his duties in the new role.

FIFA’s Men’s National Team Competitions Committee is responsible for advising and assisting the FIFA Council in formulating strategies, organizing, and managing major international tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup, FIFA U-20 World Cup, FIFA U-17 World Cup, and other competitions within the FIFA system.

At present, Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn also holds several key positions within continental and regional football organizations, including Member of the AFC Executive Committee, Chairman of the Competitions Committee of both the AFC and the AFF, and Member of the AFC Asian Cup Organizing Committee for the 2023–2027 term. Most recently, he was entrusted by the AFC to serve as Head of the Men’s Football Competition for the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.

In addition to Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn’s appointment to FIFA’s Men’s National Team Competitions Committee, two other representatives of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) have also been appointed to FIFA’s specialized committees: Mr. Nguyễn Văn Phú, General Secretary of VFF, to the FIFA Medical Committee; and Ms. Nguyễn Thanh Hà, Deputy General Secretary, to the FIFA Women’s Football Committee. Earlier, Ms. Nguyễn Thị Mỹ Dung, a member of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee, Arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), Member of the World Athletics Disciplinary Tribunal, Member of the AFC Appeal Committee, and Deputy Head of VFF’s Licensing Committee, had also been recognized for her international contributions.

The appointments of Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn and other VFF representatives to FIFA’s organizational structure reaffirm the credibility and standing of both VFF and Vietnamese football within the global football community. This milestone further enhances Vietnam’s international image and provides greater opportunities to contribute to the development of world football.
