This afternoon (September 9), the opening ceremony of the training program for match commissioners in the national professional football leagues for the 2024/25 season took place at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).
In attendance were Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF); Mr. Trần Anh Tú, Vice President of VFF; Mr. Dương Nghiệp Khôi, General Secretary of VFF and Chairman of the Course’s Organisation Committee; Mr. Nguyễn Minh Ngọc, General Director of the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF); and all 28 match officials who will be serving in the national professional football leagues for the 2024/25 season.
In his address at the ceremony, Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), emphasized the importance of enhancing the responsibility and skills of match officials in the national professional football leagues. He described these officials as the “extended arm” of the governing and organizing bodies. Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn highlighted that as Vietnamese football approaches the standards of continental and global football, the match officials must also keep pace with the times. They need to improve the quality of their work and adopt a higher level of responsibility, especially concerning pre-match preparations, in-game developments, and post-match procedures. He stressed the necessity of ensuring that matches are conducted in accordance with the regulations of the competition and the Professional Football Regulations, and to avoid any unnecessary errors.
For his part, Mr. Trần Anh Tú, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), urged the match officials to maintain maximum focus on their duties, master match management skills, and work closely with the governing and organizing bodies to address any issues that arise during the tournament. Mr. Trần Anh Tú also mentioned that recently, VFF and the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security held a meeting to discuss collaboration on preventing and combating criminal activities in football. Alongside procedural measures to fight corruption in football and requiring clubs and teams to enhance their management and educational efforts to prevent misconduct, VFF has also issued strict directives to officials and referees. They are expected to proactively report and provide information on matches showing signs of corruption to enable timely intervention and resolution.
The training program for match officials in the national football leagues for the 2024/25 season will take place from September 9 to September 11, 2024. The program includes sessions on professional match commissioners techniques, reviewing experiences and issues from the 2023/24 season, and updating changes and additions to the 2024/25 Competition Rules.
