Son La Women’s Club returns to the National Women’s Football Championship
With the attention from the authorities, the great efforts of local sports people and especially the timely support of the main sponsor of the women’s national championship, Thai Son Bac Electrical Equipment Trading Co, the Son La women’s football club will return with the national women’s football championship – Thai Son Bac Cup 2023.
Son La team entered the women’s national championship later than other women’s football clubs such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Than KSVN or Ha Nam. The players are recruited locally and most are ethnic people. Maintaining a football team in a difficult locality like Son La is not simple. For many years, with a limited budget, plus mobilizing resources from society, Son La has made great efforts to participate in the national championship. For this team, having enough human resources and funding to participate in the tournament is an encouraging thing and brings an opportunity to maintain the women’s football grassroof, which has too many challenges in Son La.
Despite many efforts in selection, training and fundraising, from the 2020 season Son La could not participate in the national championship and only competes in the women’s National Cup and the National U16 and U19 tournaments. Not having enough funding to participate in the national championship is really a concern for Son La sports people. Because there cannot be an output for training, it is very difficult for Son La to attract young training candidates in the future, and at the same time, it is a waste of existing resources. Moreover, the Vietnamese women’s football grassroots, which has a moderate scale, needs an additional club to find a source of human resources and create attraction for the national championship.
This season, with financial support from familiar partner Thai Son Bac, Son La women’s football officially returned to the national women’s championship. Thai Son Bac is also a sponsor for Son La in 2019 and 2022. Mr. Tran Anh Minh, Member of the VFF’s Executive Committee, General Director of Thai Son Bac Company said: “We admire the football team’s efforts to overcome difficulties. Hopefully, the locality will have more policy mechanisms to better invest in women’s football. We also hope that more businesses will join us to promote the country’s women’s football grassroots.”
In addition, before the new season, Son La women’s football also received meaningful support from Openlive Group in the amount of 150 million VND. Hopefully this meaningful gift will help the Son La women’s football team have more resources to participate and compete well in the National Women’s Football Championship – Thai Son Bac Cup 2023. This is the amount of money deducted from the Omedia Charity Fund after the Golden Generation friendly match of former football players last September 24. The money collected from auction activities, ticket sales and support from sponsors from the match to help difficult situations in Vietnamese football.
Women’s National Championship – Thai Son Bac Cup 2023 takes place from November 14 to December 28 in Hanoi with the participation of teams: Hanoi I, Hanoi II, Ho Chi Minh City I, Ho Chi Minh City II, Ha Nam , Than KSVN.
