The 9th Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation, Term IX (2022–2026)
On the afternoon of September 5, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the 9th Meeting of the Executive Committee, Term IX (2022–2026), took place. The agenda focused on reviewing the achievements of Vietnamese football during the first eight months of 2025, discussing key tasks, and agreeing on the main objectives for the remainder of the year.
Attending the meeting, on behalf of the Vietnam Sports Administration was Deputy Director Nguyen Hong Minh. Representing the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) were President Tran Quoc Tuan; the Vice Presidents; Standing Members of the Executive Committee; Members of the Executive Committee; the Chairmen of the Inspection, Disciplinary, and Complaints Settlement Committees; the Chairman of the National Coaches Council; leaders of VPF Company and affiliated units; the General Secretariat; and heads of functional departments.
On behalf of the Standing Committee, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan delivered the opening remarks and once again congratulated Thep Xanh Nam Dinh FC and Cong An Ha Noi FC for their outstanding achievements in winning the V.League 1 and the National Cup in the 2024/25 season. Both clubs will represent Vietnamese football at the AFC Champions League Two and the ASEAN Club Championship 2025/26.
VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan emphasized that, in the context of the nationwide restructuring of administrative units and personnel arrangements, the VFF Executive Committee has upheld a strong sense of responsibility in its work, closely following the overall development of Vietnamese football as well as broader socio-economic activities. The Committee has issued timely policies to support member organizations and clubs.
On this foundation, together with VFF’s strategic and systematic investments, Vietnamese football has continued to achieve remarkable success, such as: the U23 national team winning the ASEAN Championship for the third consecutive time; the women’s national team securing a place at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 finals; the U20 women’s team qualifying for the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026 finals; and the 2024/25 national professional football league system being organized and completed as planned, alongside many other notable achievements across various areas of work.
At the same time, President Tran Quoc Tuan also outlined several major tasks for the VFF and Executive Committee in the coming period to ensure the stable and sustainable development of Vietnamese football.
Right after the opening remarks by VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan, the meeting proceeded with its working agenda, which covered many important matters. Delegates acknowledged the achievements of Vietnamese football in the first eight months of 2025 and the active efforts and dedication of all VFF staff and officials. In addition to the successes of the national teams, the domestic competitions were organized as scheduled, with the 2025/26 professional season launched featuring many innovations in technical aspects, refereeing, infrastructure, and the expanded use of VAR technology. For non-professional tournaments, a notable highlight was the official implementation of the FCMS competition management system, which reduced data compilation time by 30% and improved transparency. Furthermore, VFF successfully hosted a number of international tournaments, which were highly appreciated by both the AFC and AFF.
The Executive Committee then focused on discussing preparations for the national teams to participate in the 33rd SEA Games and on key tasks from September to December 2025. According to the plan, the national teams will undergo both domestic and overseas training camps and take part in international friendlies to strengthen their squads. The men’s national team aims to maintain form in the Asian Cup qualifiers and prepare for major tournaments; the women’s and U20 women’s teams target strong performances at the 2026 continental finals; the U22 men’s, women’s, and men’s/women’s futsal teams will strive to reach the finals at the 33rd SEA Games; while youth teams such as U17/18 men’s and U17 women’s will also take part in training camps, international competitions, and Asian qualifiers, with the goal of securing qualification to the final tournaments—both to maintain Vietnam’s leading position in the region and to build experience for the next generation.
The meeting voted to adopt several important resolutions, including:
– Approval of the report on activities from April to August 2025 and the action plan for the final four months of 2025 of the VFF;
– Approval of the report on preparations for national teams’ training camps and competitions in the lead-up to the 2025 SEA Games;
