Following the direction of the Provincial People’s Committee and effective coordination with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), various departments, sectors, and mass organizations in Phú Thọ province successfully organized the home matches of the Vietnam national football team during the 2024 ASEAN Football Championship. The province ensured good infrastructure conditions, technical equipment, security and order, and medical services at the matches in compliance with the regulations of the VFF and the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF). Additionally, accommodation businesses, restaurants, and tourism service providers met the standards required for serving tourists. There was continuous guidance, inspection, and supervision to ensure adherence to regulations in tourism activities, ensuring quality and safety in serving the visitors who came to support the matches, leaving a positive impression on both the local people and visitors from all over.

The province paid great attention to media publicity and visual propaganda, which contributed to the promotion of the growing sports movement. At the same time, Phú Thọ’s tourism image was widely and vividly promoted, leaving a strong impression on both domestic and international visitors about the friendly, hospitable people, and the cultural identity of the Hung Kings’ ancestral land. This helped spread the patriotic spirit and national pride, directing attention toward the homeland of the Hung Kings, and created momentum to attract tourists after the tournament, further boosting the development of Phú Thọ’s tourism. During the match days, more than 70,000 fans and visitors attended, with around 12,600 people staying overnight, and tourism revenue was estimated at 50 billion VND.

In 2025, Phú Thọ province aims to renovate and upgrade the infrastructure of the Sports Complex and Việt Trì Stadium, which has a capacity of 30,000 to 35,000 seats. The plan includes enhancing facilities to meet international standards and strongly developing a youth football training system to continue supporting tournaments that are linked to tourism activities. This will help further promote the image of Phú Thọ – the Land of the Hung Kings – and spread it widely to international friends.

Chairman of the Phú Thọ Provincial People’s Committee, Bùi Văn Quang, sincerely thanked the leadership of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) for trusting and selecting Việt Trì Stadium, Phú Thọ province, to host the home matches of the Vietnam national football team during the 2024 ASEAN Football Championship. He also expressed hope that the Federation would continue to collaborate with Phú Thọ province in hosting national and international team tournaments in 2025 and the years to come, particularly those involving the national and U23 teams. This cooperation would help promote the image of the people and culture of the Land of the Hung Kings and build Việt Trì into a festival city that connects with the roots of the Vietnamese people.

The Chairman also expressed the desire for the VFF to organize training sessions and friendly matches for the national teams at Việt Trì Stadium before major official tournaments. He suggested that the stadium be considered a satellite venue for the Federation when hosting national, regional, and international football tournaments and friendly matches. This would also create opportunities to promote Phú Thọ during the events and their side activities. The Chairman hopes that the cooperation between Phú Thọ province and the VFF will continue to strengthen, turning football activities into a regular event in the province.

President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Trần Quốc Tuấn praised the close and effective cooperation of Phú Thọ, especially the security, medical, and cultural units, which contributed to the successful organization of the ASEAN Football Championship – a major regional football event. The success of the recent tournament has demonstrated Phú Thọ’s potential to continue hosting national and international sports events.

The province’s plan to renovate and upgrade the Việt Trì Sports Complex and Stadium to meet international standards will serve as a favorable foundation for hosting large-scale tournaments. The VFF President urged Phú Thọ to continue directing its departments and relevant units to strictly implement the regulations of the VFF as well as international football federations when organizing tournaments. He also affirmed that the VFF is ready to support Phú Thọ in training technical staff, coaches, and referees, as well as to assist the province in hosting future tournaments at Việt Trì Stadium.
