The Vietnamese futsal team won 3-2 in their first friendly match in Kuwait

After two days in Kuwait to train and acclimate to the weather conditions, at midnight on September 12th (Vietnam time), the Vietnamese futsal team played their first friendly match during the training trip, facing the host team, Kuwait.

The friendly match against Kuwait held significant importance as head coach Diego Giustozzi prioritized testing and assessing the squad ahead of the Asian qualifiers. The Kuwait futsal team is considered to have a higher level compared to other opponents in Vietnam’s group, such as Lebanon, China, and Hong Kong (China), making this match an ideal opportunity for experience and evaluation.

Notably, the Vietnamese futsal team during this training camp included many young talents like Đa Hải, Thanh Bảo, Công Đại (born 2005), Ngọc Ánh (born 2004), and Quang Nguyên (born 2006), alongside experienced key players. The starting lineup for the match comprised: Phạm Văn Tú (goalkeeper), Châu Đoàn Phát, Nguyễn Mạnh Dũng, Nguyễn Thịnh Phát, and Đinh Công Viên.

The match was lively, with an exciting, attacking style of play. Both teams continuously chased each other’s goals, creating a tense and thrilling contest. In the end, the Vietnamese futsal team narrowly won 3-2. The goals for Vietnam were scored by Đa Hải, Công Đại, and Thịnh Phát.

Victory over Kuwait not only boosts morale but also serves as a testament to the quick integration of young players when given the opportunity. The fact that Đa Hải and Công Đại—both born in 2005—directly scored goals highlights positive signs in the team’s youth development efforts. The combination of youthfulness and experience from key players like Văn Tú, Đoàn Phát, and Thịnh Phát has helped maintain a balanced team, while also opening up a variety of tactical options for the head coach.

Given the diverse playing styles of the opponents in the qualifiers, this performance is considered an important trial for the Vietnamese team to adjust their tactics and prepare for more complex scenarios ahead.

According to the schedule, at 22:00 on September 13th (Vietnam time), the two teams will face off again in the second friendly match. On September 14th, the Vietnamese futsal team will move directly to China to officially begin the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship qualifiers.
