VFF among Top 3 nominees for the Member Association of the Year (Diamond Category) at the AFC Awards Riyadh 2025
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) is honored to be among the top three nominees for the Member Association of the Year – Diamond Category at the AFC Awards Riyadh 2025, a prestigious event organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to recognize the outstanding contributions of individuals and organizations across the continent’s football community.
Representing the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) at the AFC Awards Riyadh 2025, held in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), were Mr. Trần Quốc Tuấn – AFC Executive Committee Member and President of VFF, and Mr. Nguyễn Văn Phú – AFC Medical Committee Member and VFF General Secretary.
According to the official shortlist announced by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), alongside the Chinese Football Association (CFA) and the Football Association of Thailand (FAT), has been named among the top three nominees for the Member Association of the Year – Diamond Category.
This is one of the most prestigious and significant categories of the AFC Annual Awards, honoring Member Associations that have made outstanding contributions to the overall development of football in Asia. The Diamond Category recognizes Associations with extensive operations, professional league systems, strong youth development and grassroots programs, and effective implementation of AFC and FIFA development projects.
The year 2025 marks a period of remarkable achievements for the VFF, including the successful organization of national competitions across youth, professional, futsal, and women’s football levels; the effective implementation of international cooperation projects such as “Football for All in Vietnam (FFAV)”, as well as programs for coach and referee training and school football development. The national teams have also achieved encouraging results in both regional and continental tournaments, further solidifying Vietnam’s standing within the AFC framework.
In addition, the VFF has actively carried out numerous social responsibility initiatives aligned with AFC’s strategic vision—promoting the humanitarian values of football, advancing gender equality, fostering life skills education, and contributing to community development.
The AFC Awards Riyadh 2025 gathers the brightest stars, coaches, referees, and organizations from across Asia. The event marks the return of this prestigious ceremony after a pandemic-related hiatus, reaffirming AFC’s commitment to celebrating and spreading the positive values of Asian football.
The inclusion of the VFF among the top three Member Associations in Asia stands as a testament to Vietnam’s strategic direction in football development, reflecting the nation’s growing reputation, influence, and leadership within the Asian football community.
The AFC Awards Riyadh 2025 ceremony took place on the evening of October 16, 2025, at the King Fahad Cultural Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, starting at 8:00 PM local time (midnight, October 17, Vietnam time).
