Notably, the list features the return of goalkeeper Ho Van Y. The experienced futsal goalkeeper had been absent from the national team for some time as he had not fully recovered from injury. His recall reflects head coach Diego Giustozzi’s expectations regarding the experience and class of this veteran goalkeeper. If he meets the professional requirements and maintains good physical condition, Ho Van Y will be an important addition to the Vietnam futsal team’s goalkeeping position at the regional tournament.

Meanwhile, the goalkeeping position also includes Nguyen Quoc Giau (born in 2009). The young goalkeeper has been given the opportunity to train with the national team in order to further develop his skills and gain valuable experience for the future.

In general, most of the players who competed at the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup continue to be trusted by head coach Diego Giustozzi in this training camp. Names such as Gia Hung, Cong Vien, Manh Dung, Da Hai, and Ngoc Anh are all technically capable players who have participated in numerous international matches and demonstrated strong competitive spirit. In addition, the coaching staff has also given opportunities to several new faces, including Nguyen Thac Hieu and An Lam Toi, in order to create more competition within the squad and test additional personnel during the preparation process.

According to the plan, the Vietnam futsal national team will begin its training camp on March 16 in Ho Chi Minh City. During the domestic training phase, the coaching staff will focus on improving physical fitness, refining tactical systems, and enhancing both attacking organization and defensive solidity compared to their performance at the recent continental tournament.

After the domestic training period, the team will travel to Thailand for a training camp before the official tournament begins. During this stage, coach Diego Giustozzi and his players are expected to play two friendly matches against two leading Thai futsal clubs, Hong Yen Takam and Blackpearl. Notably, Hong Yen Takam is a club that has won the Thai League title three consecutive times. The coaching staff hopes these practice matches will help evaluate the squad, test the team’s playing style, and make tactical adjustments ahead of the competition.

The 2026 ASEAN Futsal Championship will take place in Thailand from April 6 to April 12, 2026. After Cambodia withdrew from the tournament, the competition will feature eight teams, divided into two groups of four. Vietnam have been drawn in Group A alongside Myanmar, Timor-Leste, and the host nation Thailand.

From a technical perspective, the match between Vietnam and Thailand in the final group-stage round is expected to be decisive in determining the group winner, as both teams are considered stronger than the remaining opponents. With the current squad and thorough preparations, coach Diego Giustozzi and his players are aiming to reach the final of this year’s tournament.
