Vietnam futsal team calls up the best squad for the 33rd SEA Games campaign
As part of the preparations for the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnam futsal team will regroup in Ho Chi Minh City on November 10, with 20 players in their best form called up for the camp.
In preparation for the 33rd SEA Games, head coach Diego Giustozzi continues to place his trust in the core players who have proven their abilities and international experience. Familiar names such as goalkeeper Pham Van Tu, fixos Pham Duc Hoa, Nguyen Manh Dung, Nhan Gia Hung, alas Chau Doan Phat and Tu Minh Quang, along with pivots Nguyen Thinh Phat and Nguyen Da Hai, are all included in the squad, forming a stable backbone for the team.
In addition, the national team welcomes the return of two experienced alas — Tran Thai Huy and Ngo Ngoc Son. Together with Nguyen Minh Tri and Pham Duc Hoa, this duo were key contributors to Vietnam futsal’s historic achievement of qualifying for the FIFA Futsal World Cup final round for the first time in 2016. The comeback of these veterans not only strengthens the team technically but also brings valuable inspiration and international experience to the younger players.
Notably, coach Giustozzi has also handed an opportunity to newcomer Nguyen Tien Hung, a promising young ala who came through the Thai Son Nam HCMC academy. Recently named the Best Player of the 2025 Ho Chi Minh City U20 Futsal Open Tournament, Hung is expected to add competition and energy to the national squad ahead of the SEA Games.
According to the plan, the Vietnam futsal team will train in Ho Chi Minh City from November 10 to December 10, 2025, before departing for Thailand to compete at the 33rd SEA Games.
The men’s futsal event at the 33rd SEA Games will feature five teams — Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Myanmar. The teams will play in a single round-robin format to determine the final standings. With a well-balanced lineup, strong determination, and thorough preparation, Vietnam futsal team aims to finish among the top two teams in the competition.
