Facing Iga Kuinichi Mie — currently ranked third in Japan’s second-tier national league — head coach Mai Đức Chung fielded the following starting lineup: Goalkeeper: Trần Thị Kim Thanh; Defenders: Chương Thị Kiều, Lương Thị Thu Thương, Trần Thị Thu, Thái Thị Thảo, Ngân Thị Vạn Sự; Midfielders: Nguyễn Thị Bích Thùy, Dương Vân, Thu Thảo, Nguyễn Thị Vạn; Forward: Huỳnh Như.

In just the 2nd minute, the Vietnam women’s national team conceded an early goal as they struggled to settle into the game. Despite the early setback, coach Mai Đức Chung’s players quickly regained focus. In the 16th minute, midfielder Nguyễn Thị Vạn capitalized on an opportunity to equalize, making it 1-1. Thanks to their strong fitness levels, the Vietnamese side managed to maintain a balanced game for the remainder of the first half.

However, in the 43rd minute, a lapse in concentration by the Vietnamese defense allowed Iga Kuinichi Mie to regain the lead with a second goal, ending the first half at 2-1 in favor of the Japanese club.

The balance of the match continued through the first 17 minutes of the second half. Starting from the 63rd minute, head coach Mai Đức Chung made a series of substitutions, bringing on Diễm My, Hải Yến, Nguyễn Thị Duyên, Tuyết Ngân, and Tuyết Dung to replace Thu Thương, Bích Thùy, Thu Thảo, Nguyễn Thị Vạn, and Thái Thị Thảo.

With a refreshed lineup, Vietnam quickly found the equalizer in the 75th minute thanks to a goal from Hải Yến. In the 86th minute, Hải Yến struck again to put Vietnam ahead 3-2 — a scoreline that would stand until the final whistle.

In the closing moments of the match, young forward Ngọc Minh Chuyên came on as the final substitute, replacing Huỳnh Như.

On June 13, the Vietnam women’s national team will continue their training camp with a friendly match against Tezukayama Gakuin University.
