Friendly Match (June 15): Vietnam Women’s National Team vs. Osaka University of Health and Sport Sciences Women’s Team: 1-1

On the afternoon of June 15, the Vietnam women’s national team played their final friendly match against the Osaka University of Health and Sport Sciences women’s team during their training camp in Japan, as part of preparations for the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Head coach Mai Duc Chung fielded a starting lineup largely similar to the one used in the first friendly match against Kuinichi Mie FC. The lineup included goalkeeper Kim Thanh and defenders Chuong Thi Kieu, Luong Thu Thuong, Tran Thi Thu, Hoang Thi Lam, and Ngan Thi Van Su. In midfield, Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Duong Van, Thu Thao, and Nguyen Thi Van supported striker Huynh Nhu up front.

The only change in the starting XI was the inclusion of Hoang Thi Loan in place of Thai Thi Thao.

In just the 6th minute, the Osaka University players, showcasing impressive stamina and quick technical skills, opened the scoring to take a 1-0 lead. After conceding, the Vietnamese team — in red shirts — quickly regained control of the game and equalized through a goal by Tran Thi Thu Thao.

From the 29th minute, when Pham Hai Yen came on to replace Huynh Nhu, the match became more evenly balanced. However, the Vietnam women’s national team was unable to find another goal despite their efforts.

In the 73rd minute, Nguyen Thi Hoa and Tuyet Ngan were brought on to replace Hoang Thi Loan and Bich Thuy. However, no further goals were scored, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

With that, the Vietnam women’s national team has concluded their training camp in Japan, playing a total of three friendly matches. Coach Mai Duc Chung and his squad will return to Vietnam and arrive in Viet Tri (Phu Tho) — the venue for their group stage matches in the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup — on June 18. Huynh Nhu and her teammates will have 10 more days to finalize their preparations before the official competition begins.
