AFC U20 WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP

Head coach Ijiri Akira: We want to win the last match

Speaking after the 3-0 victory over U20 Lebanon’s women, head coach Ijiri Akira said that this is a good result, but the U20 Vietnam women’s players still need to learn more.

“In the game, there are many things that we still need to learn more. As for the U20 Vietnam women’s team, although we are ranked No. 1 in Southeast Asia, it is good, but our goal is to enter the top 4 in Asia. Currently, Australia, Japan, China, and Korea are in the top 4. The last match against U20 Australia women’s team, we want to win to get into the top 4, “said coach Akira.

Voted as the best player of the match, Ngoc Minh Chuyen said: “I felt very happy when I scored, but it was not until the end of the first half that we could take advantage of the opportunity and play more comfortably to overcome difficulties. About the situation of Bao Tram’s goal, the whole team celebrated but the referee did not recognize it, so it was very surprising. The atmosphere in the Phu Tho stands also helps the team to be much more confident. Thank you to the fans for supporting and watching the team play.”

The head coach of the U20 Lebanon women’s team, Joanna Hamza, said: “In my opinion, this is a match where Lebanon has played with all its enthusiasm and fought with tenacity. However, there has not been a positive outcome for us. This is also the first time that both teams have met at this level. Vietnam also faced many difficulties in the first half and it took until extra time to open the scoring. In the second half, the players were also injured and defensive, leading to conceding 2 more goals. For Vietnam, this is a good match to help Vietnam get 3 points to continue. I also wish U20 Vietnam women’s team good results in the remaining match. Both Australia and Vietnam are difficult. The difference here is that the Vietnam team and the Australia team good at organizing, playing simple and easily converted into goals. I predict the match between the two teams will be a draw. U20 Lebanon also has difficulties in training and playing. We didn’t have many chances last season either. Compared to other competitors, the level of Lebanese players may be equal, but the opponent has more training conditions, better conditions or better remuneration. I hope in the future Lebanon will have more and better conditions to compete and develop.”
