Head coach Philippe Troussier: “I choose player base on the personal ability and integrate ability”
On 23rd Aug, U19 Vietnam starts the first-day training at PVF Centre in the 3rd gathering period to prepare for AFC U19 Championship 2020. Interview with the press, head coach Philippe Troussier emphasized he chooses the player base on the ability and integration, not favoring any club.

Head coach Philippe Troussier said: “When to call a player, my first criteria is not favoring any club. I focus on the personal ability and integration of player with the style of the team. For me, a strong team is not because of some club’s players, it bases on the strength of team”.
Talk about the plan for AFC U19 Championship 2020, head coach Philippe Troussier shared that he always appreciates the effort of players. During the camp, almost players are playing at National Championship Division 2. “Through the game, I have a chance to follow and evaluate the players as well as discuss with coaches to know more about them. Until now, there hasn’t had official information about the plan of U19 AFC Championship 2020. However, U19 Vietnam has to actively will all situations”.
At this tournament, Vietnam is on Group C with Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Laos. As the schedule, U19 Vietnam will meet U19 Australia at the first game, therefore, head coach Philippe Troussier need especially focus on this opponent.
Mr. Philippe Trousier also emphasized that besides the plan to join in AFC U19 Championship, he and head coach Park Hang-seo also forward to World Cup 2026.
U19 Vietnam practices at PVF Centre from now to 29th Aug. As the plan, before coming to the AFC U19 Championship 2020, the team of head coach Philippe Troussier will have another gathering period in 3 weeks to complete the last preparation step.
