Qualifiers – Group D: Strong finish by Vietnam

Ulaanbaatar: Vietnam made it three wins out of three to finish top of Group D after defeating Korea Republic 5-2 in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Thailand 2024 Qualifiers on Wednesday.

Vietnam 5-2 Korea Republic

Korea Republic, who netted 11 goals in their earlier matches, did their best to keep Vietnam at bay, but the ASEAN hopefuls eventually found a way through with five minutes left in the first half.
Nguyen Huu Phuc orchestrated the move when he burst down the right flank before cutting back to Duong Ngoc Linh, who slotted past Korea Republic keeper Han Sang-seok.
Vietnam then showed their clinical side a minute later when Nhan Gia Hung pounced on a poor clearance from Shin Jong-hoon before sending a rasping long-range shot past a hapless Han.
The East Asian side came back fighting in the second half with Eom Ji-yong reducing the deficit three minutes after the restart.
However, Vietnam stamped their authority in the game with two quick efforts from Dinh Cong Vien and Duong Ngoc Linh just before the half-hour mark followed by Nguyen Minh Tri’s 35th minute strike.
Korea Republic’s Shin Jong-hoon reduced the deficit in the final minute of the game.
Nepal 1-1 Mongolia
Both teams came into the tie hoping to end their campaign on a winning note with Nepal taking the lead through Sumit Shrestha’s 11th minute opener.
Mongolia clawed their way back to equalise a minute before the half-time whistle to force the draw.
