The 12th Meeting of the VFF Executive Committee (Term IX): Approval of Key Plans for Q2/2026
On March 30, the 12th Meeting of the VFF Executive Committee (Term IX, 2022-2026) took place at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation. The meeting focused on evaluating the work performance of the first quarter and outlining key tasks for the second quarter of 2026.
In attendance at the meeting, representing the Vietnam Sports Administration was Vice Director General Nguyen Hong Minh. Representing the VFF were President Tran Quoc Tuấn, the Vice Presidents, Standing Members of the Executive Committee, and Executive Committee Members. Also present were the Chairs of the VFF Inspection Committee, Disciplinary Committee, and Appeals Committee, as well as the General Secretariat, leaders of VPF and its subsidiaries, and Heads/Deputy Heads of VFF functional departments.

On behalf of the Executive Committee’s Standing Board, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the achievement of eight Vietnamese national teams qualifying for Asian final tournaments. This marks the first time in history that Vietnamese football has reached such a milestone. This success stems from the VFF’s methodical and sustainable development strategy, with a particular focus on investing in youth football and enhancing training quality. The close coordination between clubs, youth training centers, and the national teams has created a solid foundation, enabling Vietnamese football to consistently achieve success on the Asian stage.
Following the General Secretariat’s report on Q1 performance and major Q2/2026 tasks, Vice President Tran Anh Tu presented the national teams’ plans, specifically the key objectives for the second quarter of 2026. Accordingly, the Men’s National Futsal Team will compete in the Southeast Asian Championship from April 6–12 in Thailand. The Vietnam U20 Women’s Team will participate in the AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup from April 1–18 in Thailand, while the U17 Women’s Team will compete in the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup from May 1–17 in China.
The Vietnam U17 Men’s Team is set to participate in the Southeast Asian Championship from April 13–24 in Indonesia, before competing in the AFC U17 Asian Cup from May 3–22 in Saudi Arabia. The U19 Men’s Team will take part in the U19 Southeast Asian Championship from June 1–14 in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the Men’s National Team will undergo training in the second half of June to prepare for the AFF Cup; they are expected to convene five weeks prior to the tournament and may hold overseas training camps for optimal preparation.
Regarding the Women’s National Teams, the VFF continues its strategic investment, with the Senior Women’s National Team currently undergoing a squad transition. The focus remains on squad building in preparation for the 2030 Asian Cup Qualifiers and the 34th SEA Games. During the meeting, Executive Committee members contributed further insights, including the necessity of expanding the grassroots foundation for women’s football.
Regarding the organization of the 10th VFF Congress (Term 2026-2030), based on the General Secretariat’s report on the overall tentative plan, the Executive Committee discussed and reached a consensus to assign the General Secretariat and relevant departments to proactively follow the schedule to ensure implementation is on track and in full compliance with regulations.
The meeting approved the VFF’s Q1 Performance Report and the implementation of Q2/2026 tasks. It also approved the Q2/2026 Action Plan for the National Teams, including the National Team’s preparation and participation in the ASEAN Hyundai Cup 2026 in Hanoi. Furthermore, the meeting passed the Report on the organization of the 2025/26 National Professional Football Leagues, the tentative plan for the 2026/27 season, and the overall organization plan for the 10th VFF Congress (Term 2026–2030).
The 12th VFF Executive Committee Meeting (Term IX) concluded in a serious and responsible atmosphere with high consensus, establishing a vital foundation for the Vietnam Football Federation to implement its key strategies for the second quarter of 2026.
